My family and the Monti family have enjoyed a wonderful relationship for over 40 years, long before I was diagnosed with stage III breast cancer 14 years ago.

When I discovered I had breast cancer my first call was to Joe Monti and his first call was to Dr. Vincent Vinciguerra. Dr. Vinciguerra guided me with divine caring and wisdom through high dose chemotherapy, a bone marrow and stem cell transplant, and radiation. For hours on end Tita Monti sat at my side on the 9th floor of the Monti Pavilion comforting and reassuring me throughout my treatments.

Now Caroline and Richard and the new generation of Montis have affirmed their passion and determination to finish the mission of their parents (and grandparents) to find a cure.

My family wants to thank all those who supported and donated to the Don Monti Research Foundation. Be assured that people like me are survivors because of the indefatigable work of the Foundation. As I am writing this it is 10:00 PM and my phone is ringing. It’s Dr. Vinciguerra checking in to see how I am feeling and he tells me the latest results of my most recent tests, as he has faithfully been doing for the past 14 years since my diagnosis and treatment. Need I say more?
